Brief History
In the early sixties, the Tarlac United Methodist Church, extended its usual Sunday School classes on weekdays to accommodate pre-school children of members. In successding years however, enrollment accommodated non-member children as well. This gave rise to the establishment of the Ecumenicdal SChool. |From a modest one room class, it expanded and became the pioneer of formal Pre-School Education in the province of Tarlac. Staffed by Church Deaconess, honed primarily in teaching children, the school gained distinction, and to this date it still remains its trade mark, of "tender loving care" dealing with the children.
With the clamor of parents of the graduating class, for continuing education, the SChool in 1981, expanded its program offerings with the establihsmnet of the Elementary Department, The school became the mission arm of the Cuhrch, which promoted Christian values and education. Though new in the academic community, the ES made its presence known when its pupils excelled in various academic, cultural and athletic competitions.
The opening of the secondary leve4l in Ecumenical School became inevitable when its scholastic standard was finally recognized by the Tarlac Community. The intolerance of other schools toward its first elementary graduates due to religious grounds and their preferential attitude to other graduates bolstered the need to put up the High School Department. The High School started operating in school year 1992 - 1993.
The need to ensure Christian growth among its students is a continuing concern of the school. Thus, in a historic planning 2002, the School Board of Trustees, approved the putting up of a College Department. With this development, the school was renamed ECUMENICAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE (ECC). And in June 2003, the College opened its initial course in BS Nursing and BS EDucation courses. Several services oriented courses were opened up like SPED, Child Care Education, Social Work and Emergency Services Management.
With the CHED's mandatory regulation on the offering of the BS of Nursing in 2012, the College graduated its last batch of nursing students in 2014.
Today, ECC provides Alternative Learning System for Out of School youths, Emergency Medical Servies and Education courses with specialization in Special Education and Child Education programs.
